Who are our junior sessions for?

Our junior sessions are perfect for young people who:

  • Enjoy being in the water

  • Like trying new things

  • Are happy to be part of a team and listen to coaches

We group players by age and ability so everyone can learn at their own pace and feel included.

How strong a swimmer do they need to be?

Your child should be comfortable:

  • Swimming a length of the pool without stopping

  • Putting their face in the water

We build up underwater skills gradually. No one is thrown straight into the deep end (literally or figuratively!).

What kit do they need to start?

To get going, they’ll need:

  • Swimwear

  • A towel

  • If possible, their own mask, snorkel and fins

We may have some spare kit to borrow while they try out the sport, so don’t worry if you don’t have everything on day one. A good starting point if they want to stay is a mask. Help on how to find a mask will glady be given by our intructors.

Is it safe? Who’s in charge?

Yes – safety comes first.

  • Sessions are run by experienced coaches

  • Activities are matched to age and ability

  • We keep a close eye on all players in the water

Our regular junior coaches hold current DBS checks and we follow appropriate safeguarding guidelines.

How much does it cost?

We do our best to keep costs as low as possible so more young people can give underwater hockey a go.

For up-to-date details on session fees and membership, please check our Juniors information on the Club Forms and Documents page or contact us directly.

Ready to give it a try?

If your child loves the water and wants to try something a bit different, junior underwater hockey could be perfect for them.

Head over to our Contact page or the Club Forms and Documents page to find out how to get started, what forms you need, and when our next junior sessions are running.

DBS checks and safeguarding

All our regular junior coaches and helpers hold up-to-date DBS checks and follow our club safeguarding procedures.

We take child safety seriously:

  • Every coach on poolside is DBS-checked

  • We follow recognised safeguarding guidelines

  • Parents and guardians are welcome to talk to us about any concerns

We want junior players – and their families – to feel confident that sessions are safe, well organised and properly supervised.
